ABOUT: "Whether you’re a runner struggling with depression or anxiety or someone who is depressed and anxious looking for a scientifically supported way to improve your mental health, Running Is My Therapy is here to help. Longtime running writer Scott Douglas marshals cutting-edge science, anecdote, and expert advice to show how running can reduce depression and anxiety and boost the mind. You’ll learn how running affects the brain and about options for combining running with different kinds of mental health treatments, from cognitive behavioral therapy to antidepressants and more, as well as how running can lead to a more fulfilling life by encouraging social connections, healthier habits, a sense of purpose, or even decreasing use of controlled substances.

From proper pace and distances to choosing optimal surroundings and personal routines, Douglas provides proven methods that have helped him and others battle depression and anxiety, improve mental health, and live happier—both while running and while enjoying the rest of life."

The Midterm Run

One Goal: Raise $3 million to help flip Congress

It’s been one year since we ran from Harlem to D.C.

One year since we responded to the threats posed by the incoming administration by organizing: first a run to raise $44,000 for Planned Parenthood and later a Women's Summit, followed by 5 national events. What started out as an effort of four women quickly grew into a movement of thousands running for all women and ultimately raising more than $160,000.

It’s 2018 now. One year since the #Run4AllWomen. One year since the Women’s March. One year of a Trump presidency.  The stakes are higher.

It's been said that it's the responsibility of the majority to defend the rights of the minority.  Well, three million more people voted for a vision of a country that provided affordable quality healthcare to all. Three million more people voted for a country that respects individual liberties, like freedom of religion, expression, and orientation. Three million more people voted for the vision of a country that values a thriving and equitable economy. Three million more people voted for a vision of America that rejected divisiveness and worked toward national unity. Three million more people voted for a vision of a government that operated as three co-equal branches and not as pawns to foreign or financial influence. We cannot sit idly by and allow indifference to destroy our democracy.  We must stand!  And we must stand with those who are running! And that is why we will run again.

This time, in honor of the three million more people who voted for a different vision of our nation, we will run 2018 miles for 11 candidates across 6 states raising $3,000,000.  The money will go to support candidates that are running to flip a district.

They’re running for us, so we’re running for them.

Join us in the Midterm Run and support these candidates!

Run 4 All Women film NOW AVAILABLE on Vimeo

Following a hugely successful 7-city film tour that took us to Harlem, Philly, Boston, NOLA, DC, Brooklyn, and Durham, the Run 4 All Women film is now available on demand via vimeo.  We hope that this film will inspire continued action and resistance in the New Year (and beyond)!

Run 4 All Women tells the story of four women who proved the power of running as a vehicle for social change. Running from Harlem, NY to Washington DC in the depth of winter in hopes of arriving in time for the historic 2017 Women's March, these four women engaged global support to successfully cover the 252 mile journey and raise over $100,000 for Planned Parenthood in just 20 days. Run 4 All Women is a story of resilience, friendship, and the power of running and grassroots activism to create meaningful change.
