Running Through White Space, April 2024 Boston

Created in October 2020 in the wake of Ahmaud Arbery's murder while running, the Running Industry Diversity Coalition (RIDC) was formed to address systemic racism in the running industry. The coalition is united by the belief that running, walking, and fitness support a healthy culture, and should be accessible for everyone — regardless of race, religion, gender identity, sexuality, immigration status, socioeconomic status, and ability. As the trial of Ahmaud Arbery’s killers continues, we are honored to share the voices of the RIDC’s co-chairs, Alison Mariella Désir and Chris Lampen-Crowell, as they tell the story of the coalition’s challenge in its early days, and their hopes for the future of running.

Harlem Run founder, Alison Désir, has turned her athleticism into activism by hosting runs & events in support of women’s rights and serving urban communities. #UnlikeAny #IWILL
